Johnny Depp’s Second Saturn Return

Johnny Depp’s been going through it. It’s called the Second Saturn Return and in his Cycle 7 - the House of Relationships - it’s become a highly publicized spectacle: We all meet our first Saturn Return between 27-30 of age, when karmic comes to challenge us. Under his second return, Depp been dropped by Disney, and gone through all manner of karmic krap since sobering Saturn came knocking. As he always does, in the end.

Looking back at his first Saturn Return will give us cosmic clues to his current one or at least the themes Johnny Is likely to face. In 1993, he split with Winona Ryder, a woman whose name he had tattooed, (WINONA FOREVER later edited to WINO FOREVER). 30 years later, another break up but this time on the world stage - the 7th is all about Other People.

Saturn demands fairness in Cycle 7. It also connects to legal matters , as the 7th is naturally connected to Libra the seventh sign of Justice. In Aquarius, its about liberation, being authentic, liberated and accepting and celebrating personal eccentrics and oddities. And solidifying friendships.

It’s true what they say about Leo Rising: there’s something about their hair.

Think Marilyn Monroe. Donald Trump: Johnny Depp, born with Leo on the Ascendant chose to slick his mane back while appeared in court. His ex, Amber Heard also on trial recently, kept pulling at stylish strands hanging in front of her face. She too is, according to some astrology sources, Leo Rising: the ascendant that ‘knows how to work a room’. All Leo Asendants have Aquarius Descendants- Cycle 7, also known as the House of Relationships. Aquarius descending shows that these folk prefer unusual relationships with quirky others. There can be erratic hot/cold closeness/distance patterns. On again, off again unions, a need for freedom and an audience for their Leo glory to shine upon. And their fare share of crazy partners.

Two Leo Risers begs the question: who is boss? Who gets the attention and the glory?

Johnny’s serious Saturn (commitment, obligation, duty) in his Relationship oriented 7th, squares his Venus, the sign OF partnership and in Taurus, the sign of security and worth suggests a karmic carryover of clashes between self-indulgence and detachment. Animal instincts and cerebral spaciness. Relationships and Money and Self Esteem.

Amber’s Venus is holding hands with Johnny’s - a sign of simpatico, two people who share the same enjoyments. A love match. Sadly, this also means her Venus is also challenged by his Saturn. Coldness, distance, feeling unwanted and unloved, alongside issue with outside friendships, money, physical appetites, and self-esteem issues and the road becomes bumpy.

In toxic relationships, we inevitably find challenging alignments so here are some on both sides.

Aspects against Amber:

Mercury in Aries: words as weapons. Verbal duals. Childish tantrums square square Neptune - the classic Pinocchio alignment of lying, mental confusion and forgetfulness, delusions, fantasy, painting pictures with words and fabrication. Also square aggressive Mars, heightening the need to challenge authority, use conjunction to wound. Hot headededness, bullying words.

Pluto in Scorpio, on South node (Libra):

Manipulative behavior in other lifetimes, an attraction to dark magic and the dark hearts (or heartless) who wield it, unresolved power urges or powerlessness: toxicity, S&M in relationships. Destroying that which we love. Dark hearts.

Sun square Pluto: Making others the monster, needing a shadow to stand brightly against. Manipulations and ego battles, ‘worship me or you are an enemy’.

Conflicts between light and shadow selves; “splitting” (see others as either all good or all bad).

Projecting wounds onto others, disowning ones dark side.

Meetings with men who are dark and/or dangerous. Attracting battles of wills, shadows that try to snuff out your light; moths to your inner flame.

Venus conjunct Pluto/Uranus, in Gemini: Attraction to darker relationships, toxic love, love of transformative, turbulent unions with others. The enjoyment of verbal vitriol, shocking bombshells.

An attraction to powerful others, erratic and volatile situations and  partners, with a shocking dark side.

Mars conjunct Neptune: covert plans and pursuits, stealthy motives and agendas. An addiction to adrenaline and aggression. Chasing fantasies. Using smokescreens to distract and hide. Deceitful behavior and practices. Chasing the next high.

Pallas opposing Mars; warrior instincts, attempts to win the war without getting your hands dirty, strategic alliances and operations, military maneuvers. ‘Masculine’ objectives.

Pallas square the lunar Nodes:  the need to integrate themes of violence, selfishness, willfulness, recklessness, warmongering. Unresolved issues of self-assertion and aggression.

Sun square Leo Ascendant: disconnect between how the person IS versus how they ARE. A sunny, calm disposition and demeanor can mask a domineering need for admiration and ego-appeasement.

Comes off as bossy, loud and proud.

Pluto square Leo Ascendant: a deep need for privacy and sense of personal power and agency. Control issues, needing to be seen a certain way. Comes off as secretly suspicious, sneaky, scary. Not as light and bright as is outwardly portrayed. Dark and dangerous depths overshadow the majestic mask.

Saturn in Libra: karma in relationships. Heavy burdens faced in partnership. Lifelong lessons in sharing, cooperation, compromise, negotiations, being part of a team. A soul need and desire to commit and the lessons of committing to the wrong person or getting involved in unfair or unwise associations.

Aspects against Johnny:

Mars-Uranus-Pluto conjunction In Virgo: An inner core of perfectionistic self criticism, possible obsessive compulsive tendencies, the need to be right or perfect and self harm when exacting standards aren’t reached. Violence and rage, erratic mood swings relating to issues around work, health, daily schedule, making mistakes. Guilt as a conscious and unconscious motivator and the feeling of having to “atone” for some transgression.

Or attracting exacting critical others with anger and rage issues, those who project blame onto the person or to manipulate through shaming tactics.

These planets are opposing his Saturn/7 suggesting these themes will play out as part of his karmic mission this lifetime. They also oppose his Venus, underlining the financial and relationship themes again.

Capricorn Moon on South Node square Jupiter Aries: A cold, workaholic, status-needing soul, who finds it hard to maintain emotional intimacy, with a dramatic, self-serving needy side that is childish, immature and irresponsible. A Past life pattern of putting public image first, career over family and domestic bliss, a public life over private time. An unresolved or unintegrated inner warrior, and thus themes of anger, self-courage, self absorption , conflict resolution, anger management, that must be met in this life.

Moon in Capricorn on South Node: emotional starvation or neglect, life associated a long time ago with achievement, hard work, “impressing”, commitment, duty or sense of burden or baggage that must be carried. Orphan-karma, emotional-estrangement, the withholding of affection, ‘women who wear the pants’, emotional repression, coldness and cruelty experienced or perpetrated in other lives.

Neptune conjunct Black Moon Lilith: Addictions, phobias, fantasies create riptides and undercurrents, propaganda campaigns, outright deception, shady activities. Emotional pain leaves an open wound that invites darker energies to infiltrate and infect. Being hoodwinked or scammed, or being unscrupulous. Square his Ascendant, a hidden, private side is hinted at (or gossiped about) that doesn’t seem to resonate with how this person is perceived or appears. In Cycle 4, emotional escaping can lead to further problems, subtext and secrets at home.

Our Saturn Return ensures we face or karmic tasks. We can run but we can’t hide. In Cycle 7th, it’s not always clear cut. Is it “them”, the “other”? Or is it conflicted part of ourselves we need facing? Johnny’s second Saturn return is bringing 7th relationship themes home - perhaps karma from other lifetimes with significant parties, leveling the playing field and paying back debts. He won his legal case, and no digit there are riches and gains ahead, as Saturn rewards those who face the music. Saturn in 7 is also the good karmic links we forge and difficult or challenging situations could very likely turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
