Chapter 1: The Moon
The placement of the Moon in your birth chart is very significant from a karmic perspective, as it indicates the accumulated karmic tendencies, both positive and negative, that you carry from your past incarnated experiences on earth.
While the Sun reveals your intended purposes and lessons for this present life cycle, the MOON represents what you have already done and developed, hence, what is instinctive and natural to you, and what you tend to do over and over again. Your childhood is also reflected in the Moon's placement, as it is through those childhood circumstances that any unresolved past-life issues are re-stimulated. Your subconscious predisposition is indicated by the Moon's position. It is the psychic imprint of the past. The nodes of the Moon describe behavior patterns from the past, as well as delineating a direction out of outworn or overdone behaviors and habits.
Moon in Libra
Many of your previous life experiences revolved around the themes of marriage and partnership, and learning the delicate art of relating, blending, and harmonizing with another. You are very much aware, at a deep level, of the need for compromise and diplomacy, and you naturally adjust yourself in order to accommodate the other person, and to make the relationship flow smoothly. With your sixth sense regarding what other people need or want, you seem to know just how to please, the right gesture or word to disarm them and put them at ease. You possess a certain finesse, graciousness, and agreeableness of manner which has served you well in the past. When challenged or under stress, you are apt to depend on your personal charm and appeal and the kindly feeling you evoke in others, to pull you through.
Because togetherness feels very natural and familiar to you, it is difficult for you to imagine going solo comfortably. You enjoy being half of a tight couple and may feel empty and incomplete if you are not. Your personal security and inner well-being seem (to you) to hinge upon being in an intimate relationship, and if you are not mated, you need a best buddy or constant companion of some kind. Your mood is apt to be very dependent upon whether or not there is a "significant other" around. On your own, you are apt to be rather indecisive and uncertain. For this reason you may (subconsciously) feel that you are at others' mercy, and will thus take great care not to offend or alienate them in any way. Interpersonal conflict and the normal disagreements that arise in any ongoing one-to-one relationship may seem like a great threat to you, and being socially "with it" may be inordinately important to you. At some level, you believe that your survival depends upon being liked, accepted and approved of. You may "play games" to flatter or appease other people, or deny and repress those aspects of yourself that you feel others would not like. You especially have trouble displaying honest anger and other "not nice" emotions. However, if you can avoid becoming trapped in the nice-guy or people-pleaser role, no one is better equipped then you to enter an equal, caring, sharing relationship.
You believe utterly in fairness and equality and that gifts (of any kind) should be reciprocated. You tend to "keep score" on emotional or personal issues. ("I called you three times this week and you only called me once", or on a more subtle level, "I put more energy into our marriage than you do".) Deep down you are very idealistic and have a yearning for perfection, especially for the perfect partnership. You tend to be in love with love or beauty, and to be irked by the more prosaic, all too-human aspects of relating.
Your instinctive response to life is to think things through first. You usually act from a thoroughly considered, reasoned perspective rather than from emotion, and you always try to be just and impartial. Other people gravitate to you when they need a sounding board. You will listen to all sides of a story before making up you mind, which (along with your desire to fit in graciously with others and not to offend) can contribute to your indecisiveness. However, you can also be eminently judicious, fair, and adept at finding solutions that meet everyone's needs.
To be at your best, it is important for you to learn to center yourself within. Disciplines like Tai-Chi or meditation may assist you in finding and maintaining your emotional center.
North Node in Gemini:
In your incarnational past you were devoted to ideals and principles and high-mended pursuits. Now your growth direction is to laugh and see the humor in it all, as well as to apply your wisdom in ordinary day to day interactions.
North Node in 11th house:
In this lifetime there is also a definite movement within you toward broader social involvement and influences, and away from creating in isolation or strictly ego - gratifying accomplishment. Your past tendencies will be particularly active in your relationships to your children (physical or creative).
Moon Conjunct Jupiter:
Previous lifetimes of wealth, ease, and abundance translate into your present life experience as a deep subconscious belief that there is always plenty and that you will always be taken care of. You have great faith in life's essential bounty and you basically expect to have a good time. From this springs your emotional charity and generosity, but also possibly a certain laxness and improvidence which can contribute to certain problems stemming from self indulgence, a disinclination for strenuous effort, or a belief that the gods are always looking out for you so you do not have to do it yourself! You may depend solely on divine intervention or just plain good luck.
Devotion to a religious path was also a significant part of your incarnational past. Quite possibly you were a figure of considerable importance and influence, such as the abbot of a large monastery or the equivalent in whatever culture or religion this experience occurred. Thus, it feels natural for you to care for many people, to draw a large family circle around yourself, and to reach out, protect and share yourself with many people, as you have in the past.
Chapter 2: The Sun
The Sun in your birth chart represents the primary creative thrust for this lifetime, those qualities you are to develop (or further develop) and express, and your current life focus. This may be in harmony with your instincts and your emotional habits, or along completely different lines. The Sun represents your conscious identity in this lifetime.
Sun in Cancer
In terms of soul development, your capacity for deep emotional attachment and emotional union, for merging on a feeling level, and for sympathetic understanding and compassionate feeling, are among your primary concerns in this lifetime.
Your ability to discover and express who you are revolves around the themes of nurturing and of creating a home and deep roots, which will nourish you and give you confidence.
In the simplest possible form, this could be expressed as having a family and centering your life around caring for your mate and children, basking in the warmth and closeness and security of home. There are other ways for the same basic impulse to be expressed, however. Regardless of your gender and whether or not you have flesh-and-blood children or consider yourself very domestic, you do need to "mother" (nurture, support, take care of, protect, cherish) and to have a sense of belonging, a sense of family, and a sense of continuity with the past. The family however, can be a spiritual family or group of close friends; the home, an inner home or base of security you create deep within; and the mothering you do may be through your work instead of with your own kin. This is very likely to be the case, in fact, if your childhood and family of origin was not especially nurturing or close. Your work may directly involve children or providing emotional support or literally feeding people, but it may be more subtle than that. For instance, if you are a business person, you may feel that your employees and customers (especially the loyal, long time ones) are your family and try to take care of them as such. You care about their personal lives and feel for their troubles, and like a good mother you see them through tough times. Or, to give another example, as an artist you may regard your "babies" with such affection and attachment that it is hard for you to sell them. You want to make sure they go to "a good home"! Whatever form it takes, this emotional attachment and sympathetic feeling are the core of your life. There are pitfalls and potential difficulties on this path, such as, becoming overly dependent on being needed and thus unable to graciously let go when the "child" outgrows you, living in or holding on to the past (including old hurts and grudges), and feeling deeply threatened by "outsiders", non-family members, foreigners. You also tend to be powerfully conditioned by your early home life and your experience of being mothered. If your own nurturing as a child was unsatisfying, you may wander through life "on empty", desperately seeking the love and security you missed as a child. Or, instead, to rigidly deny that you need anybody, building protective walls around yourself to keep out the fearful world. Afraid of having your tender insides exposed, as well as of your own emotional neediness, you may over eat or over drink to pacify your longing. Becoming obsessively interested in the past or with money as a form of security are also ways you express yourself when you are out of balance. An overly close, smothering relationship to mother, or to "the way things are done in our family" can also prevent you from becoming a full-fledged individual in your own right, the proverbial cutting of the apron strings being rather difficult for you.
Sometimes, to fill your need for roots and belonging and a meaningful connection to the past, you may choose to align your-self with a period in history with which you feel a deep resonance, a particular culture or subculture, or a spiritual lineage of teachers. This conscious choosing of "family" or "home" may be one of the most positive acts you can do for yourself.
Another aspect of your ability to feel sympathetically and to emotionally merge with others is that you are very "psychic". Learning to listen to your deeper intuition and to use your psychic sensitivity may well be a significant aspect of your life path.
Sun Square Moon:
In this lifetime, to fulfill yourself as an individual, you need to develop and express yourself along very different lines than you have in the past. Thus, in many instances your conscious purposes and inclinations are rather at odds with the deeper subconscious beliefs, patterns and the familiar ways of being which are carry-overs from your incarnational past. Comparing the interpretation of your Moon sign and aspects in Chapter One and the interpretation of your Sun sign and aspects in Chapter 2, you will notice definite opposing or conflicting tendencies or inconsistencies. You will need to say yes to both of these sides of yourself, even though they may seem to pull you in different directions, for denying either side will keep you locked in conflict with yourself or see-sawing between extremes. However, it is also important for you to bring to light those emotionally-based habits, prejudices, and "needs" which you hold on to and which may be interfering with your current needs and requirements for growth.
Chapter 3: Rising Sign
The point that was on the eastern horizon at the moment of your birth is called the ASCENDANT, or rising sign. While the Sun describes your conscious direction and current life focus, and the Moon your subconscious predisposition and past, the Ascendant indicates a way of being that transcends and embraces past, present, and future. It describes the way you engage and merge with the outer world and how you bring through into life the energies depicted by the Sun, the Moon, and the rest of your birth chart. Everything is filtered through the Ascendant from an esoteric point of view. It indicates your soul's function and thus a key part of your destiny.
Leo Rising:
Everything you do is done with pride, creativity and a sense of your own uniqueness. The desires to be a shining star and to stand out as an individual color all of your interactions with the world. At best, this motivates you to excel, to achieve at the highest level possible for you and to be a bighearted, generous, magnanimous, and honorable person. Others' successes and talents inspire you. You applaud and appreciate individuality, creativity and the spirit and joy of life wherever you see it being expressed. Warmth and benevolence flow from you and others are attracted to your heart, your radiance, your strength. You carry the qualities of the archetypal ruler. You are King or Queen of your realm.
If you express the lower side of this energy, however, the picture is much less lovely. You are terribly narcissistic, self-centered, excessively concerned with being impressive, respected and admired. You cannot share the glory and usurp the credit for others' contributions. You want to "out-do" everybody else. You do not admit your mistakes, you are domineering and cannot let people get too close to you lest they discover you are not as great as you would like them to believe. You are either overly self-conscious or you have to put yourself forward and be seen and heard on all occasions. Your very presence dominates the scene in ways that more subtle, quiet individuals find intrusive. However, if other factors in your birth chart give you a sense of proportion, humility, and a genuine awareness of other people, these negative tendencies are much less pronounced. Your soul-function does involve leadership, or being "out there" on the stage of life in a significant way. You can be even more effective and fulfilled in this if you stay focused on giving from your heart instead of your ego.
Mercury Conjunct Asc.:
A thinker and a communicator, the use of your mind, your voice, your words are key elements of your contribution to life. Like Hermes, god of messages and messengers as well as of thieves and tricksters, you are also a bridge between people and ideas.
Pluto Conjunct Asc.:
Your intensity, penetrating insight, and keen sensitivity to the hidden underside of things color your entire life expression. By your very way of being, you have a profound and transformative influence on your environment and those around you. You may inspire fear and repulsion as well as unusual devotion. You can be a powerful healer of souls if you confront, transform, and integrate your own darkness, woundedness, and urge for power. In any case, your role is that of bringing what is hidden, buried, and "underground" to the surface.
Chapter 4: Saturn, Your Achilles Heel
Karmically considered, the placement of Saturn in your birth chart indicates where your energetic blockages, weaknesses and fears lie, and the areas of your life where the most concentrated effort and discipline will be required to master and overcome them. Yet it also points to the aspects of life which can become your greatest strength if you are willing to face your fears and difficulties honestly, and work with them patiently.
Saturn in Cancer
You have great fears of being vulnerable and needy, of being hurt or rejected, of letting others see the dependent, childlike, tender, feeling side of yourself. You may stifle these feelings and put on an armor of detachment or stoicism, shouldering everyone else's burdens and responsibilities but never letting on that you would like to be taken care of sometimes.
Although you crave acceptance and a feeling of belonging, you may distance yourself from the very people who might genuinely care for you (whenever they get too close) or you may deny altogether your needs for human connection and intimacy. You feel awkward and clumsy expressing tenderness or anything resembling sentimentality, and may feel quite aloof from your family (as well as the softer side of your own nature). On the other hand, you may cling tenaciously to your home and family as a base of security, and depend on them excessively or need constant reassurance from them. An inordinate emphasis on loyalty and responsibility in personal relationships (on your part) may stem from a basic insecurity and a fear of being deserted. At worst you may be terrified of anything unfamiliar.
A karmic tie to your mother, a strong sense of indebtedness and/or guilt, or the deep feeling that something was missing in your relationship to her is also indicated. Lessons regarding parenting, and giving and receiving nurturance, are crucial for you in this lifetime.
Saturn in 12th house:
The anxieties and insecurities you struggle with may loom large in your inner life simply because you tend to avoid looking them in the eye. You are like the little child lying in a darkened room imagining hideous monsters under the bed and becoming paralyzed by these imaginary fears. Your sense of powerlessness and fear of being victimized by some "bad thing out there" may prevent you from functioning effectively in the world and living out your full potential. Definitely you are your own worst enemy and severest critic, and you may be plagued by feelings of self-doubt and condemnation, worthlessness, and guilt, much of which is either unfounded or based on ancient, not clearly recognized "sins" from the past. Believing the worst about yourself, you are prone to hide from others, certain that they, too, will reject you. Unconscious messages you still carry (possibly from a critical father) are probably weighing you down and preventing you from seeing yourself realistically.
On the other end of the spectrum, you may repress your own fears, your natural sense of caution and limits, "never allowing yourself the luxury of a negative thought", and consequently go blithely along until you are hit over the head from behind with an undeniable dose of reality. You may see-saw between believing you are far more limited (and bad) than you actually are, to not seeing limits or boundaries until you run straight into a brick wall.
You need to "make friends with your shadow", though this is by no means an easy task. It has been said that "there is nothing to fear but fear itself".
Chapter 5: The Hard Aspects
The following is a description of your MAJOR LIFE CHALLENGES, both in terms of energies you are to learn to develop and express in a positive way, and those which are the result of struggles and unresolved karmic issues which you have brought into this life.
Mercury Conjunct Pluto:
You have a penetrating, incisive mind which cuts through surface appearances to the deeper, underlying heart-of-the-matter. Your perceptions and profound insights border at times on being truly uncanny, for you have the gift of being able to perceive the hidden content, the concealed, disguised, or suppressed aspects of a person, situation, or subject. On a concrete level, this quality of mind impels you to be the researcher or investigator, searching out the unknown, uncovering a mystery. Even in casual social interaction you automatically perceive others' subconscious intentions and motives. You are very astute psychologically. Hence, your presence can be somewhat threatening to those who have secrets or who have much invested in the superficial and prefer not to go any deeper.
This capacity carries with it, however, challenges and pitfalls. You may find yourself falling into a habit of mind that is suspicious, paranoid, cynical, or preoccupied with the dark underside of life, and this may skew your entire outlook. (You may also use your considerable insight, persuasiveness, and mental power to try to manipulate others' thoughts and actions which would inevitably bring negative karmic results.) Verbally you can be quite cutting and hurtful. Realize that simply speaking "the truth" without mercy or sensitivity to how your words are received, can do more harm than good.
At its worst this aspect would be expressed in a Machiavellian type of mind, utilizing your keen perception to manipulate and dominate others.
Venus SemiSquare Neptune:
You are in love with love, and your path in life, as well as many of your challenges, involves understanding and experiencing the realm of the heart. Irresistibly romantic, you have the soul of a poet, a devotee, and above all, a lover.
In its earliest stages of development, this pattern within inclines you to be easily seduced, overcome with emotional yearning and infatuation, unable to discern the motives and intentions of others, particularly if the other person appears beautiful, soft, innocent, or in need. You can confuse pity with love. You see the angel in the other person, and are deeply disillusioned to discover the selfishness or sordidness.
Further on, your relationship with spirit may become paramount in your life, a relationship between lover and beloved. Your path is then what the Hindus refer to as "bhakti" -spiritual devotion and service. This higher octave of love and widening of the heart's affections can be very beautiful, but herein lies the crux of some of your very human problems: "Where are the limits or boundaries in relationships?" "Are there conditions in love, or is unconditional love the ideal?". Sorting out these questions and similar ones are part of what your life is about.
Uranus Conjunct North Node:
Foregoing old allegiances and ties which bind you to the history, forms, and authorities of the past is an essential part of fulfilling your growth direction. You must improvise, leave the beaten path, align yourself with like-minded others to offer alternatives to the old way.
Chapter 6: Soft Aspects
The following is a description of your GIFTS and STRENGTHS which can help you work with your major life challenges. These are abilities and qualities of heart, mind, and soul which are quite natural to you. You probably take them for granted. Because these represent the lines of least resistance for you, you may rely too much upon them at times; hence, there are some cautions suggested. Still, these are the areas where good flows into your life and/or where you have considerable inner resources.
Moon Trine Uranus:
You can tolerate a great deal of unpredictability and insecurity (in the sense of the unknowns in your outer circumstances), and thus you are more willing than most to take risks. You have a keen sense of adventure. Your ability to harmoniously adapt to changes and unexpected twists of fate is one of your assets, as is your receptivity to anything new, your willingness to experiment, and your ability to completely alter your direction based on new information and the needs of the moment. You stay open to possibilities no matter how wild or far-fetched they may seem to more conservative folks, and thus you could easily earn the reputation of being a bit wacky. Your natural inclination to pursue the non-traditional or unexplored path is apt to bring you benefits. At the very least, yours is an unusual, varied, and exciting life, and sometimes includes extraordinary discoveries. Also, you navigate through life using your intuition, inspiration, and inner impulses to guide you (rather than some pre-planned formula for living) and this will work well for you, as your intuition is sharp and clear and relatively undistorted.
Venus Sextile Uranus:
Your gifts include an unusual flair or creative spark, playful inventiveness, and a taste for adventure and surprise that lead to new forms of pleasure or beauty.
You are also open to unconventional, nontraditional ways of sharing, loving, and relating to people. Collaborating and bringing unusual combinations of people together makes you happy.
Having bells or chimes in your environment can augment and bring out these qualities and gifts. Musical abilities and a wonderful sense of rhythm are talents you have brought with you into this cycle of life. When you are out of balance or overwhelmed, music or dancing is a way you can rejuvenate yourself.
Jupiter Trine Uranus:
Through your openness, optimism, enthusiasm for adventure or new ideas, and your willingness to go out on a limb and do something unusual or risky, blessings flow into your life. In your willingness to follow your inspiration, to pay attention to uncanny coincidences and synchronistic events, you attune to a higher order and magnetize good fortune. You also have a fortunate sense of timing, and what others may see as your "good luck" is at least partly your knowing when to say yes to an opportunity. In fact, your positive expectations help create such opportunities. Sharing joy, fun, laughter, and playfulness is also one of the ways you give birth to the new in your life. Discovery and benefits through travel is also indicated.
